A Gay Guide To The Emmys
The Emmy nominations were announced yesterday and here’s some of the gay interest nominees that made the final list:
- Out actor Neil Patrick Harris, who will be hosting this year’s ceremony, was nominated again for best supporting actor for playing a screaming heterosexual on "How I Met Your Mother."
- "Big Love," the HBO drama about polygamists created by a gay partners, Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer, was nominated for best drama series. Dustin Lance Black once served as staff writer and co-producer for the show.
- The now canceled "Pushing Daisies" garnered five nominations, including a best supporting actress nod to Kristin Chenoweth, for gay creator and producer Bryan Fuller.
- "Prayers for Bobby," the true story a young gay man who killed himself due to his mother's religious intolerance, scored nominations for best TV movie and actress Sigourney Weaver.
- Sir Ian McKellen was nominated for best actor as "King Lear" and Cherry Jones was chosen as supporting actress for playing the president on "24."
- Gay favorite Kathy Griffin is up for two Emmys for her reality series "My Life on the D List" and for her comedy special "She’ll Cut a Bitch."
